Afua Asantewaa Finishes Singathon attempt: Awaits Guinness World Record Confirmation

Ghanaian women’s rights advocate, journalist, and event organizer Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum concluded her remarkable Guinness World Record attempt at a singing marathon after an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes.

While awaiting official verification from Guinness World Record judges, Asantewaa’s feat is believed to have far surpassed the existing record set in 2012 by India’s Sunil Waghmare.

Starting her marathon at midnight on December 24, 2023, and wrapping it up on the morning of December 29, Asantewaa, addressing her supporters from behind a screen on stage after receiving medical attention, expressed that she had lost track of time during the five-day endeavor.

Grateful for the widespread support from musicians, politicians, and security officials at the Akwaaba Village in Accra, she shared her hope that this accomplishment would serve as an inspiration to women and youth across the country.table basse belvedere soigner tennis elbow naturellement cravatta fai da te amazon orologio chiusura a scatto porta fonendoscopio littmann crema per occhiaie nere amazon tuyau tireuse sedia viso puma suede pink satin north face zenith herren herren adidas derby vulc herren sneaker weiss blau rot maglione natale amazon dreirad toys amazon short eau teppich auslegware günstig online kaufen amazon

Asantewaa thanked everyone involved, saying, “On behalf of my husband, my family, my team, volunteers, media, Ghana Tourism Authority, I would like to say a big thank you to each and everyone who participated in this singathon attempt. This was a mere dream that was visualized in just a period of five days, I say just because I don’t even remember how it started not to talk of how it ended.”

“We hope and believe that this will be an inspiration to all women and all youth or individuals to come out of your comfort zone and try new opportunities. There is a lot out there to do when you put your mind to it; you will achieve it.”

To celebrate her achievement, Asantewaa will host an all-white thanksgiving event at 6 pm at the same venue.

Medical Conclusion:

Originally scheduled for December 24-27, 2023, Asantewaa extended her Singathon to accommodate potential time deductions by Guinness World Record judges.

Dr. Grace Buckman, leading Asantewaa’s medical team, praised her efforts and expressed surprise at her endurance.

While the initial plan was to conclude the singathon at noon, Dr. Buckman advised an earlier stop due to fatigue and prioritizing Asantewaa’s health.

She stated, “There is only so far you can go as a person… She has done 126 hours, and let’s give her a round of applause. She has done so well and made the music industry proud. However, as a medical team, her health is our topmost priority. We need to make sure that she is fine, so we’re putting a hold to it. Fatigue has set in, but we will work on her to ensure she bounces back and addresses all of us.”
